Requirements:
1. A computer
2. A Windows® computer
Sorry Mac Users. We love our iPods too, but having finished CB
we couldn’t bring ourselves to write a whole new slug of code.
If enough of you Mac Users whine to us (at least 10), we may roll
up our sleeves to bring you CoupleBox for the Mac.
3. A half-decent Windows® computer
- 1 GHz processor or above (CB is graphically intensive
and uses complex encryption)
- 256 MB or more of RAM
- Microsoft ® Windows® XP
- 100MB of disk space for installation plus sufficient space for your collection
- SVGA (or better) screen (note CB will not work with a screen
size of less than 1024x768)
- Windows® compatible sound card
Specifications:
CoupleBox gives you total peace-of-mind
for your personal photos and videos. It provides strong 256 bit
encryption, password protected access, twelve user-selectable
moods, integrated media player with custom controls, media object
labeling and fave tagging and an import function for adding new
moods.
Types of media files supported
CB supports the loading and playback of most file types: JPG, BMP,
AVI, AVI-DVI, MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 (if your machine has the appropriate
Codec and sufficient processor speed). To import MPEG 4 and
Quicktime formats you should first save these in an .mpg or
.avi format.
Size of Collection supported
With two separate Collections (Main and Personal), each allowing
36 albums you can store many thousands of individual items. The size
of your collection will however be limited by the spare capacity on your primary
harddrive. For
very large collections you will need a faster machine to maintain
reasonable speeds for play-lists and file retrieval. We recommend
you keep to fewer than 10,000 items.
Security and Connectivty
CB has been architected for security. Your collection is protected
by strong 256 bit encryption. Additionally CoupleBox has absolutely
NO internet connectivity whatsover. Any application with internet
connectivity exposes itself to attack. We did not want that
for CB. As noted in the tech issues, you may find that the first time
CB plays a new type of video file, that you firewall will give an alert
that CoupleBox is trying to acccess the internet. This is simply the
Windows Media player (that CB uses) going out to the internet to get the
right codecs to support video playback. You should let this link happen and then
you should not see the message again.
Screen size support
CB is a graphically intensive program. Artwork is optimized
for display on a 1024 x 768 display (SVGA). CB will not install
on machines with lower resolution. On higher resolution screens,
CB adapts by use of “black banding” (just as when you view wide
screen DVDs on a regular screen). When you playback images and
videos in full screen mode these will use your entire screen.
If you have a higher resolution display and want to remove “black
banding” (we actually prefer it), you can configure the display
settings to 1024 x 768 using the Control Panel before running
CoupleBox.
Export formats
Videos files are exported in their native format. Images are
exported as high resolution JPGs.
